DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL

This webinar will explore the relationship between TB and mental health, including an overview of the epidemiology, current areas of research, relevant medical and psychosocial dimensions, and approaches for clinical and TB control practice. Case examples will highlight challenges in managing TB patients with mental health issues, with a focus on recognizing and screening for mental illness and patient-centered interventions.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This webinar is designed for physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers who are involved in the diagnosis and management of TB patients.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this webinar, participants should be better able to:

  • Understand the complex relationship between TB and mental health
  • Assess the mental health status of TB patients in order to determine appropriate interventions
  • Develop strategies to manage psychiatric complications in TB patients in order to improve overall treatment outcomes

There is limited space for the webinar and acceptance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants at the same location are encouraged to view the webinar as a group. Each site must identify a contact person to register, receive webinar information, submit a sign-in sheet, and share the link to the online evaluation.
